We have been stockpiling all of our plastic debris items at Restore Kauai's Property in Kapaa along with all the plastic debris and nets that Surfrider Foundation has been cleaning up.
We do this so that when we get enough we can ship them to Oahu's H-Power facility to burn for electricity rather than dump them in our landfill.
The stockpile is huge and Surfrider has set up a shipment to be loaded on Saturday October 5th from 8:30am to about 11:30am or so. This is going to be a work day loading nets into the container followed by a net recycling party. Surfrider is providing food and refreshments.
Hope you can make it to this special event!!
We will meet at Restore Kauai in Kapaa at 8:30am on Saturday morning. Restore Kauai is located in Kapaa town on the back road just behind Bubba Burger on the way toward the skate park. The access road is located between the pet grooming shop and Speciality lumber, look for the Restore Kauai sign and pull into the dirt road access. You will see us in the back end of the property.
Also please mark your calendars for the Marine Debris removal project at Ahukini Landing for Saturday October 12th 2013. More details to come on this soon. This is Griffen Allen's Eagle Project. We will be removing about 20 tires from the reef at Ahukini Landing.
