Conservation in action

No sitting on the fence when it comes to saving leatherbacks from extinction

Leatherback Turtles“Thank you to Project AWARE and all your patrons. Your support has enabled us to establish the Leatherback Turtle Nesting Recovery Project as a direct response to the imminent extinction of the western Pacific Leatherback turtle. As the leading supporter of our cause Project AWARE are helping to save the oldest living species of sea turtle which has been roaming the oceans of the world for well over 100 million years.” Larry McKenna, Save our Leatherbacks

Project AWARE helps Crystal Dive Resort Go ECO to protect marine world

Crystal Dive ResoritProject AWARE helps dive centres like Crystal Dive Resort become more environmentally aware and inspire everyone to Explore, Conserve Observe. And the Crystal Dive crew have made a big splash in the waters of Mae Haad Reef to go eco in a big way. Since becoming a Go ECO operator in 2007 the team have secured a new mooring buoy to protect the reef from anchor damage, set up a CoralWatch programme to ensure reef preservation and organised massive clean up missions for World Ocean Day and International Cleanup Day.

Project AWARE funds coral clones to create sanctuary for marine life

Coral Reefs“Thanks to Project AWARE and the San Juan Community we have had a significant and positive impact on coral rehabilitation. Fisherfolk who were once destroying the coral reefs have been trained on coral reef management, protection and preservation. Coral species have been planted to serve as a living legacy in generations to come.” Lemuel R Alfeche, Marine Biologist
