In 2009-10 we built an artificial reef designed as a training area for divers. It has been a great experiment.

In 2011 we plan to expand on that effort. Come along to join in all the fun. August 23 - 31st, 9am til 5pm everyday. Deployment will be in September.

In 2008, the local community of Koh Tao took the first, but very large, steps towards making marine conservation a priority for our island. Along with the Save Koh Tao Group, seventeen local dive schools and a number of local businesses donated and raised almost 1 million Baht to build a Biorock™ alternative dive site on the island. Becoming the largest Biorock in the Gulf of Thailand, and the world’s first Biorock SCUBA diver training area.

To help celebrate the launch of the new Project AWARE, Thresher Shark Divers Malapascua will be hosting a very special event on June 8th.

Our House Reef is an artificial reef that has been under construction for 2 years.  It is already attracting lots of coral growth and marine life.

We will be adding another structure to this reef: one of our old boats will be sunk, upside down. These boats attract coral growth and provide a covered environment for all manner of fish life to hide :-)
