Trawangan Dive is supporting 100% Aware program from the Project AWARE Foundation, further strengthening the dive centre’s ongoing commitment to global environmental conservation activities. This is a voluntary program that encourages PADI dive centres around the world to promote the work of Project AWARE, a non-profit organisation that relies on financial support from environmentally concerned divers.
“Today we changed the mindset of 13 Divemasters and 4 Instructors and I know they will be AWARE for the rest of their lives,” said Jens Nielsen Ban’s PADI Staff instructor. It was a memorable day for Jens and fellow instructor Simon from Ban's Diving Resort, Koh Tao, Thailand who taught their first AWARE Shark Conservation course.
In 2009, World Ocean Day (8th June) was declared official by the United Nations; it was, however, originally proposed at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992. Given that this is also the year in which Centro Sub Campi Flegrei was founded, we will be having an extremely eventful programme throughout the year; the weekend of 9th & 10th June 2012 will be dedicated to environmental activities to mark both World Ocean Day and World Environment Day (5th June).
