Yesterday, the 1st of May, we were on a mission. The Planet Scuba staff and customers banded together to clean up both underwater and on the beach for the Project Aware Dive Against Debris day.
A trip to the boat moorings in Mae Haad and a clean up of the adjoining beach helped, in some small measure, to restore these locations to their former glory.
Among the treasures recovered during our clean up (photos to follow):
A spirit house stand (cast iron 50kg)
Pots and pans
!00s of bottles.
Trawangan Dive is supporting 100% Aware program from the Project AWARE Foundation, further strengthening the dive centre’s ongoing commitment to global environmental conservation activities. This is a voluntary program that encourages PADI dive centres around the world to promote the work of Project AWARE, a non-profit organisation that relies on financial support from environmentally concerned divers.
We will organize a "dive against debris" in combination with a treasure hunt...
Activities will take place both under water and on land. BBQ will be held after the "Cleaning!"
All Volunteers are welcome - Diver, Non-Diver, Children, ...
UDIVE IS 5! We are proud to inform you that Eilat's Premium PADI 5 star Instructor Development Centre will be celebrating it's 5 year anniversary this year on Friday, the 9th of March 2012.
This special event, which will incorporate our passion for diving, doing our part in caring for nature & the environment as well as the Jewish Holiday of Pourim, means it's going to be an all out event that should not be missed under the theme of ECO Marine.
Friday, Feb 3 on Jungutbatu beach, Nusa Lembongan, Bali
Moonsoon is here, so huge amounts of plastics and marine debris are washing up on the beaches every day. This clean up is a combination effort of several dive & tourism businesses on Lembongan island with the help of tourist & local volunteers.
A clean sweep of the beach: from the Harbour to Blue Corner Dive!
We are hosting a Dive for Debris clean up of the Ocean College House Reef at the Hilton Fayrouz Hotel, Naama Bay... guests will be diving the shallow reef here collecting as much litter as possible and comparing it to our World Clean up Dive last year.
On every dive we will collect rubbish this month, as we always do. But this month being the Project Aware Dive Against Debris month, we hope to find even more volunteers showing their love for a clean ocean. We will also organise beach clean ups and rubbish collections in areas of our village where wind can easily "feed" the sea, in particular with plastic bags and bottles. Every Friday we will have a special offer on 3rd dives. Please check for updates. We look forward to seeing you :)
