On 6 September, Helsinki celebrated Project AWARE's Debris Month of Action with a loud and big community event. Dimjami Music Band joined the celebrations to cheer up the divers who came together to conduct a Dive Against Debris survey and remove a staggering amount of marine debris from the Baltic sea.
Dive against Debris - come and join us as we head out to Lembongan Bay to clean-up!! I will be hosting this event and there will be a briefing before hand and the opportunity to join a lift bagging workshop for those who are interested - it's a great intro to those thinking about doing their Search and Recovery Adventure dive of specialty!
Come and join us and help make a difference on your holiday!
I've organized a lot of cleanups in my time. Whether it's helping a dive center organize a Dive Against Debris survey or running large scale event for Project AWARE, my life for 10 years now has been pretty much surrounded by rubbish.
On May 24, over 50 volunteers from Aquanaut Scuba and Snorkelling Centre, Kingston University Sub Aqua Club in association with Kingston University Students Union Volunteering undertook a huge Thames River Clean project at Kingston Upon Thames, Thameside in the UK.
Spectators walking across the bridge and along the tow path looked in disbelief at the quantity of debris that was extracted from such a small area of the Thames including 105 shopping trolleys!
