On Sunday 15th July, divers from Diving Leisure London (DLL) swapped their fins for trainers to support marine conservation as part of one of their popular dive club events.

In a bid to raise critical funds to support Project AWARE's Sharks in Peril and Marine Debris campaigns, Jennifer and Alex Griffin together with a team of seven divers took on the challenge to complete 90K.

"As divers, we thought it would be great to do a DLL club event to raise money for Project AWARE” said Jennifer Griffin who organised the event.

You don’t need to spend months organizing a lavish ball or a big golf tournament to raise funds for your favourite cause. Last week All About Scuba, Victoria, Australia held their Annual Awards Night and raised a fantastic $1,000 in the space of a few hours.

How did they do it?   You guessed it, a raffle!

Indonesia's newest jail helped raise over $10,000 this World Ocean Day.  In a bid to bail our ocean out of trouble two Bali dive centers got super creative. They built a bamboo jail to raise much needed funds for our ocean.

Bali Crystal Divers, Blue Season Bali and friends joined forces for the most unconventional, highly inventive fundraiser on record.

Forget your fins and grab your runners!  Running season has kicked off around the world. And this year divers are setting personal challenges to raise funds for their favourite cause.

The feel-good factor of finishing a run and raising funds for the ocean you love can’t be matched. If you’ve got a run planned this year why not fundraise too?

Whether you opt for a 5km fun run, a 10km event, a half marathon or jump straight into a full marathon there’s no doubt you’ll get an extra buzz if you run for a cause close to your heart.

Perfect sunny weather and clear diving conditions gave Manly scuba divers a chance to smash their goal in the underwater hunt for potatoes.

Over 100 divers joined Dive Centre Manly’s Underwater Treasure Hunt at Cabbage Tree Bay.  Smashed potatoes were on the menu as this bunch of enthusiastic divers searched the seabed for soggy spuds.

And they smashed another goal too, raising over $1,460 for ocean protection. All donations go to Project AWARE Foundation, a global non-profit protecting our ocean planet, one dive at a time

A desire to protect sharks and have fun led Holly Macleod to organize a massive month of fundraising for the Big Shark Shout Out.

Originally from England Holly now lives in Bali and works for Bali Crystal Divers as a PADI Course Director.  “I’m lucky enough to have enjoyed amazing diving and encounters with incredible marine life  and I’m passionately committed to making sure we protect our oceans for future generations to enjoy,” said Holly.

A local fundraiser's focus was to help put a stop to the cruel practice of "finning," which is depleting the world's shark population.

Some larger species of sharks have rows upon rows of razor sharp teeth designed for ripping and tearing flesh, can smell one drop of blood in a million drops of water, and can dislocate and protrude its upper jaw to help it grab and hang onto prey.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, Project AWARE was pondering the many ways we love you - the passionate ocean advocate. We're so thrilled to be partners with you in this global movement to protect the ocean. We realize that the ocean loves and provides for us in so many ways too. This year, why not express our love for the ocean on Valentine's Day?
