Blue Guru will be running its Whale Shark Program for the 3rd season in 2012.

In 2010, participants spotted a Whale Shark never before recorded in either Project Aware's Whale Shark Program database (run by Shark Trust) or Ecocean's photo library. By submitting data & photos, we can now track where this whale shark is seen as it migrates through the Andaman Sea and potentially around the world. Will it return to Richelieu Rock again?

Shark finning – slicing off a shark’s fins and discarding the body at sea - has been banned in the European Union (EU) since 2003. Yet, exemptions in the law made a mockery of the ban.

Marie Chau, PADI Assistant Instructor at Atlantis International, Bali has been busy over the past few months supporting Project AWARE's Give Sharks A Fighting Chance petition. She has managed to collect over four hundred signatures from divers, customers and locals who enter the shop in Sanur, Bali.

As well as showing support for shark conservation Atlantis also organise monthly Project AWARE cleanup activities for all their staff.

On Thursday 19th May 2011, we took our shark petition to the streets of Bristol City Centre. We had so much fun! PADI colleagues and Phil from West Country Divers, a local dive center, also joined us. We asked as many Broadmead shoppers as possible to sign the Project AWARE "Give Sharks a Fighting Chance" petition campaign. The response was great and even though some people didn't want to sign it, we managed to, if not change their minds, at least make them think about the plight of our sharks.
