Local PADI dive centre Adventure’s Edge in conjunction with Oceans Research and Reef Divers will Dive against Debris on Tuesday, 01 May 2012 at Santos Reef, and will also be doing a shore based cleanup for the non divers, as part of Adventure’s Edge, Oceans Research and Reef Divers commitment to protecting the ocean. Our trained divers not only remove underwater debris such as plastic bags, bottles, fishing line, and tyres , but also identify and document everything they see underwater in a larger effort to prevent marine debris.
Help us celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in the true spirit of being green by joining us for an Underwater Cleanup Contest and BBQ. We`ll show you that Spring cleaning can be fun as we dive to clean up our beautiful underwater world. Prizes will be given to the diver team who collect the most trash and to the diver team who finds the most unique piece of trash (or treasure!). Families and snorkelers also welcome! Two tanks, BBQ and refreshments provided as well as all clean up materials.
Brisbane Dive Academy is conducting an underwater cleanup in conjunction with Clean Up Australia Day. Last year we cleared out miles of fishing line and tens of kilograms of sinkers, but had to leave behind a large number of glass bottles and other debris. This year our aim is to clear out as much of the glass and other dangerous debris as we can.

Project AWARE's Underwater Scavenger Hunt has just wrapped up and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. June and July gave way to an incredible show of support from Project AWARE divers as they worked to clean up their favorite dive sites and have a little fun while they did it.
