World Oceans Day, 8th June, is right around the corner and it’s the perfect time to make strong arguments for change. All month long, Project AWARE is taking advantage of strategic opportunities to represent the voice of divers – a powerful constituency when it comes to ocean protection.

Our focus areas – sharks and marine debris – are high on the global policy agenda this month and Project AWARE aims to advocate for the ocean where and when the important decisions are made.

The Malaysian Nature Society's Marine Group (Selangor Branch) will be visiting the beautiful Perhentian islands once again, for its annual World Oceans Day celebration. In between fun dives, plenty of food and good companionship, there will also be our clean coast index study, marine awareness talks, a nocturnal guided beach walk, and Dive Against Debris. Anyone who is heading our way or are on the island (the bigger one) during this time, stop by our local partner Alu Alu Divers and sign up for the underwater clean-up.
