On Earth Day, April 22, 2012 a great group of divers went offshore and cleaned the ledges off Jupiter, Florida. About 30 pounds of debris was gathered up by 14 divers in less than an hour and a half underwater. Most of the debris was made up of fishing line, which weighs very little and takes time and care to remove off the reef. Fishing line also accounts for some of the most harm to marine life. The day began with a Project Aware presentation on marine debris, the group had lunch and then headed offshore for a 2 tank dive.
