Student in Landscape Architecture, at the moment I'm writing my thesis on sustainable development of tourism on the tranquil small coral island Gili Meno, Indonesia - outside the coast of Lombok (neighbour island to Bali).

I am doing a Landscape Character Assessment analysis, where the beach and of course the coral reef surrounding the island is an important part, also for the development of the entire island (socially, economically etc) since the local community is strongly dependent on tourism, and the main prerequisites for the tourism, are the beaches and reefs - snorkeling and diving etc. The growing tourism is at the same time one of the biggest threats for its own existence: increasing boat traffic, pollution, trash, wastewater and sewage, collection of corals for building houses and roads etc.

How can we develop and enjoy this paradise, without destroying it? This is what occupies my mind these days!
