Aquatica Scuba Diving was found in 1999 by Thomas & Ines Jurkschat and Jens Steffahn. All three are geologists, studying various topics about earth science.
They have finished highly ranked PhD-thesis in fields of marine geology, climatology and biology (TJ), marine geology (JS) and volcanology (IJ).

First TJ started his diving career in 1993 and finished his IE in 1999. Jens and Ines were one of the first students.

In 2008 the first BCU was organized to care about the surrounding lake environments. Taking part in the Project Aware foto-contest in 2010, TJ got voted or one of the runner up in this category...
