In October 2011 we were spending a few days on land on Nusa Penida and we came across evidence of the slaughter of thresher sharks so disturbing that they felt the need to take immediate action to prevent the same from happening again.
We have founded Bali Shark Project. An NGO dedicated to save Bali´s sharks. We are currently researching the extend of the shark fisheries in Bali and we a paper about it. We have issued a petition to make Bali a Shark Sactuary. Please visit our web site and sign the petition: www.balisharkproject.org
Through personal contacts within the diving community Bali Shark Project has forged strong links with Shark Savers, Project Aware, Conservation International and many other organisations, to seek the establishment of a Shark Sanctuary in Balinese waters.
Bali Shark Project is on Facebook.
