Grant has been freediving since he was six and diving since he was twelve having completed over 6000 dives and thousands of hours underwater.  He learned to swim before he could walk.  Passion for the water and spending time in, on and underwater has dominated his life.  Focused on storytelling and reaching others to share the love of water has been part of his life from its beginnings. 

He is a PADI Course Director with thirty-six Specialty Instructor Trainer ratings. In addition, he is a PADI Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer and DAN Examiner.  Grant has a Bachelor of Science in marine biology from Long Beach State with a minor in philosophy.  He is an USCG licensed captain. He is a certified EMT and aDMT.

He holds certifications as a Trimix Instructor/Trainer with DSAT, TDI and IANTD. He is a rebreather instructor. He is one of the developers of the DSAT Tec Deep, Tec Trimix and TDI programs.  He is the training officer for the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department Marine Company Dive Team as a civilian volunteer as well as a US federal agency instructor trainer for their Los Angeles dive team. 

He is owner of the production companies Scuba And Film Enterprises, LLC and Aquamentary.  He is an award winning director and director of photography.  His current project, a documentary titled Sink Faze, recently won a 2010 California Film Award and was awarded for best cinematography at the All Sports Film Festival of Los Angeles.

He is a prolific author and photographer with articles and photographs appearing in the major diving publications.  He is a staff writer for www.deeperblue.net.  He pioneered the transformational economy approach for the business of diving and precision diving http://www.precisiondiving.com.  He is active as an advisor sitting on several boards and performs expert witness services.

Grant is President of the United States Apnea Association, USAA www.usfreediving.org, which fields the US Freediving Team.  He is the Vice President of the International Association for the Development of Apnea, AIDA www.aidainternational.org.  He is an International Freediving Judge Instructor, having received the iCARE Best International Freediving Judge Award for 2008. http://www.immersion-profonde.ch/index.htm?ICARE.htm

He is the West Coast Coordinator for the Cambrian Foundation. It is a 501 (c) 3 not for profit foundation that leads the way in research, education, exploration and preservation of the aquatic realm through facilitation of research in areas traditional science has difficulty accessing. Education is the primary mission of the foundation. He has participated in many of the foundation's activities including the NOAA USS Monitor Expeditions and the Akumal Cave Expeditions. http://www.cambrianfoundation.org

Grant enjoys cave exploration. He has done exploration in Nohoch Nah Chich (the world’s longest underwater cave system), as well as, other systems in Brazil, Honduras, Florida and California. He is the Southern California Regional Safety Officer for the National Association for Cave Diving, as well as, a member of the Cave Rescue and Recovery Team.  He is a member of the Explorers Club of NYC. 

Life has been an adventure for Grant.  It is not unusual for him to be in multiple time zones in any month as he travels extensively.  He is a global citizen.  No matter where he is or what he is doing, Grant carries a passion with him that is immediately obvious.  He enjoys sharing his passion and love of water with all who are interested.
