Blue Corner Dive is a PADI dive centre and eco resort located on Nusa Lembongan Island, Bali, Indonesia.

We specialize in taking small groups on naturalist-led dives within the Nusa Penida Marine Protected area. Our dive centre is located directly on the beach north of Jungut batu village looking out to one of the areas most notorious dive sites – Blue Corner. We offer a full range of PADI dive training courses on Nusa Lembongan island taught by our professional certified Instructors. We also run daily dive and snorkeling trips to the reefs surrounding the islands.

Blue Corner Dive tries to promote sustainable ecotourism in Bali. As our dive center is owned by marine biologists we provide environmental briefings to our dive sites, as well as encourage guests to become involved in active scientific research diving and volunteer projects here in Bali.

Coral Reef monitoring programs and Scientific Diver training are ongoing projects at Blue Corner Dive that we encourage guests to sign up for.

Pandanas plants as natural beach erosion prevention in Lembongan

This week Andrew & Agus were transplanting Pandanas plants along the high-water mark of the beach infront of Blue Corner Dive.

Our plan is to use native vegetation as an erosion barrier along the beach in order to hopefully aleviate the need for cement break-waters in the future. Cement break-waters have been built along much of the shoreline in Lembongan's harbor, causing problems such as accelerated sediment transport and erosion to adjacent sides.

Beach Clean on Lembongan

Monsoon season is here!

Which means, lots and LOTS of plastic garbage getting flushed from rains down the streams and street gutters in Bali and ending up in the ocean.

Each morning the beach infront of our dive centre is covered with the reminants of plastic bottles, sandals, plastic food packaging, etc, etc, etc... As the tide and winds through the night wash up heaps of marine debris.

So... every morning we are out on the beach picking up this garbage - today: 3 large garbage bags full of plastic & debris, tommorrow? probably the same!!

Reef Check EcoDiver Trainers in Nusa Lembongan, Bali!!

Jensi Sartin of Reef Check Indonesia conducted a Reef Check instructor training course at Blue Corner Dive this last week. After 2 days of training and surveys on the reef directly infront of Blue Corner Dive, Andrew and Cody graduated as Reef Check EcoDiver Trainers.

More CoralWatch surveys at Mangrove Reef

Our Blue Corner fun divers, led by Andrew, just finished up November's survey transect for CoralWatch monitoring on Mangrove reef. We now have a second data point for what will become a long-term coral health monitoring project for Mangrove reef.

CoralWatch - Reef health monitoring transects

Blue Corner Dive instructor Andrew Taylor & scientific divemaster trainee Avri went out to two of our most popular divesites to set up baseline transects for an on-going reef health monitoring program.

Mangrove reef on Nusa Lembongan was surveyed at 2 depth contours 3-4m depth & 5-6m depth, using swimming line transects. Reef health monitored as indicated by presence on bleaching using CoralWatch charts and techniques.

Chlorophyta algal invasion of Engine Reef and Mola mola encounter

As we were out diving Engine Reef today on the edge of the channel between Nusa Lembongan and Cenningan islands, there was a strong warm down current across the reef from the outgoing tide. The warm water was thick with silt and debris and visibility nearing zero.
