It was 18 years ago that true Brit Terry first donned a drysuit and got his BSAC certification in the murky quarries of England’s Midlands. Never returning to Britain’s sub-aquatic delights, Terry spent the next 8 years as an occasional diver around the world on his vacations.
It was during Terry’s backpacking sabbatical that took him to Asia and subsequently falling in love with the region. Constantly haranguing his boss, he finally secured a job posting to Singapore in 2002.
Using diving as a mechanism to meet like-minded people, he soon worked his way through the PADI ranks, reaching Divemaster status in 2005. After 4 years of leading divers throughout the South China Sea and beyond, Terry decided to further his PADI credentials by taking up the Assistant Instructor course in Malapascua and shortly followed by the OWSI in Phuket in 2008.
Not daunted by his instructor debut of running a Bubblemaker & Discover Scuba Diving for 32 children at the British Club, he co-founded Freestyle Divers in 2009. Continuing his chartered engineering acumen of providing quality, safety and customer satisfaction to his clients, Terry carries the same professional ethics underwater.
