On Sunday 26 August, the Bubbles Dive Centre team, customers and fellow divers completed a 'Dive Against Debris in Marsalfon Bay, Gozo focusing on removing discarded rope. 

Amongst the 200 kilos of rope that was brought up from the sea there was also a car seat, cans, plastics, metal pipes and even part of an intravenous drip which is hazardous waste.  

Throughout the month of September, Bubbles Dive Centre and customers waged war on plastic (and other debris).  On every dive the team and our customers were encouraged to pick up a piece of plastic and bring it back to the centre where we put all the debris found each day on display outside.  Needless to say more than a few bits of plastic were brought up - we had screwdrivers, fishing line, pipe, cigarette butts and various other objects.

Bubbles Dive Centre and local scuba divers held a 2nd Dive Against Debris event last Saturday (30th July) in Marsalforn Bay, Gozo.

Last time we raised 25 kilos of rubbish, this time we managed 60 kilos!  We concentrated our efforts on the vast amounts of rope and sheet metal that are discarded on the sea bed.
