Today is 08/07/11. I picked up the shipping box I will be using to mail to the Philippines. The hardest thing will be what gets sent, and what gets packed and put into storage once I give up my apartment.

I've always been interested in the ocean, even though I grew up in a city 90 miles West of Chicago, IL. My life began to change when I saw my first wild dolphins off a pier in Venice Beach in California.
As the result of attending an Animal Rights conference in LA in 2009, I began my journey to save the ocean. Because I couldn't help every animal in every environment, I had to chose which area to emphasize in. I chose the marine environment. Having chose the marine environment I thought it would be a good idea to learn to scuba dive. I fell head over heels in love with diving. I can't get enough of it.
I visited the Philippines in January 2011. The trash on the beaches and in the water was sickening. I decided I needed to do something about it. Being a scuba diver and having a love for the ocean, I started a group Scuba Divers for the Oceans. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/groups/scubadiversfortheoceans/

S.D.O. is a world-wide group for scuba divers who want to be active in preserving the oceanic environment. This includes, but not limited to, education of the local population where we dive; conservation in the form of cleanups, above and below the water; leadership in policy change; and financial support when necessary to support educational, conservational and leadership activities.
