- My Summary
Tryin' to save the world? Or so some of my friends think. I am a Florida come Caribbean transplant here on the Beautiful St.Croix US Virgin Islands. I moved here around 4 years ago and am a PADI Master Scuba Diver Instructor. I have worked part time for various dive operations here on Island since my relocation. But since I am "trying to save the world, I am a "Humane Educator" in the schools during the day teaching youth about animal care and the need to reduce the overpopulation of strays thus saving the animals. If that isn't enough, well I also have a afterschool program for "at risk youth" four days a week.
As far as the ocean goes, I fell in love at the first drop. I learned to dive at Catalina Island, CA and after flying through the kelp forest (for those who have not kelp dove, it is like flying through a forest with the surge!). My obsession grew with the years and it just became obvious that I wanted to show others what they were missing so became an instructor.
I teach mostly as an independent instructor and focus on providing personal service to more local clients.
Since I work with a lot of youth, my focus for them is to appreciate their island and not to litter. Many of their families live off of the ocean in one way or the other supporting fishing and tourism. We do road and beach cleanups because the rain eventually washes most debris into the ocean when you live on a hilly island.
