With a bit of wind around the island the waves pick up and the dive boats stay closer to home. Chumphon Pinnacle, on of Koh Tao’s premier dive sites is thus given a much needed break from the diving pressure during this time.

Early in the month of December Eco Koh Tao & Crystal Dive Resort was diving at Chumphon and noticed a huge fishing net entangled around the site.

In a constant search for the best solutions to marine conservation challenges Crystal Dive & Eco Koh Tao embarked on an experiment this week to determine some which might be the best adhesive to fix coral fragments to rock substrata.

Junkyard Reef is our own in-house artificial reef and forms an extension of Mae Haad Reef which happens to be one of two sites maintained and managed by Crystal Dive/Eco Koh Tao as part of Koh Tao’s ‘Adopt-a-Reef’ program.

After three months of trying to get to Sairee to conduct a clean up of one of Koh Tao’s busiest beaches we finally made it there thanks to a lull in the weather. With the wind blowing from the west these last few months and Sairee being exposed and shallow we were constantly pushed to the east side of the island.
