After becoming a PADI Open Water Diver (in a cold dark lake in Kentucky) he was a diver and lifeguard at Walt Disney World where he conducted maintenance and search and recovery dives in the EPCOT Resorts area. A couple years later Jamie took his PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course during a spring break trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica.
"the Biggest Mistake I ever made was waiting so long to continue my diving education. Once certified I thought I could do anything underwater and had a lot of time underwater, but once I achieved additional ratings and education, it was clear that the Open Water class just scratches the surface." - he says.
Living in Colorado at the time he completed his PADI Rescue Diver, PADI Master Scuba Diver, PADI Divemaster, and PADI Assistant Instructor, Emergency First Response Instructor and worked on staff at A-1 Scuba and Travel Center in Denver, Colorado. Permanently returning to Florida in 2005 he completed his training to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in January 2006. Since then he has continued his professional education, obtaining his Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating in 2007. In 2008 Jamie went on to become an IDC Staff Instructor, allowing him to teach every class from Open Water Diver thru Assistant Instructor and all PADI Standardized Specialties (except Rebreather and Ice Diver). Jamie has authored three PADI Distinctive Specialty Courses (PADI Shore Diver Distinctive Specialty and PADI Florida Lobster Diver Distinctive Specialty Course and PADI Underwater Fossil Hunter Distinctive Specialty Course).
In 2009 Jamie completed the numerous requirements to become a PADI Master Instructor, the highest instructor rating in the PADI System.
Jamie has been an Emergency First Response Instructor since 2004, and is now an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer.
Jamie is also a PADI Tec Trimix Instructor Trainer and a Tec Sidemount Instructor Trainer and Trimix Gas Blender Instructor Trainer and Cave Diver (NSS-CDS).

Jamie has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from West Virginia University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Denver, College of Law, and remains a loyal Mountaineer fan.
In his spare time he likes to...well, he has no spare time. But if he did he would travel more.
