Langley Diving is the 'local dive shop' for the beautiful Fraser Valley Region of British Columbia Canada. As a PADI 5* Dive Center, we not only focus on teaching new generations of divers and instructors to dive and teach, but on developing a sincere awareness of the importance of protecting our aquatic world.

Semi-annual beach clean-ups and fund raisers have been the mainstay of our Project Aware activities, but we realize that it takes more than just money and elbow grease. Unless we educate and inform those who treat the bottom of our oceans, lakes and rivers as 'out of site - out of mind', our water supply and entire terrestrial eco-system will fall apart.

Join us in bringing the needs of our ocean hosts and their home to the minds of those who manage our environment and the harvesting of its resources.

Fin-a-thon 2013

Turn out was down a bit between the Sun Run, people in Mexico and other group activities, but we had fun and when all the money is added up we will have raised well over $1,000 for Project Aware. With other activities this month (Poker Run, Pennies for Project Aware, Easter Egg Hunt and family barbecue) we should be able to help those who can't help themselves - sharks and rays.

If you haven't run a Fin-a-thon - give it a try. It's fun, gets your divers into the water, is open to the whole family - even non-divers and kids, and makes for great fun.

Family Easter Egg Hunt

Langley Diving’s Easter Egg Hunt was a great success. The sun definitely came out to play for Langley’s hunters and gatherers who enjoyed the hottest early April for Vancouver in 115 years.

Over 20 divers scoured the underwater bay at Port Moody for Easter eggs while over twenty of their friends and family looked for eggs on the beach.

The divers managed to collect half a dozen bags of garbage from the bay at the same time just for the fun of it.

Langley Diving Makes A Splash in Sasamat Lake

The Debris Month of Action focuses on the ocean but at Langley Diving we remember the lakes close to home. For four years in a row we have visited tiny Sasamat Lake in nearby Port Moody in the heart of British Columbia's Fraser Valley. Families swim, play and fish in this Provincial Park every year. Langley Diving fights Shark Finning at home and abroad

Langley Diving has recently joined with Project Aware and the Shark Iniative to lobby the EU to ban the practise of shark finning. With over 60 signatures and photos from local divers we are adding our voice to the international outcry against finning. If you haven't signed up yet and had your photo taken drop by the shop and add your voice to thousands worldwide.

Fin-A-Thon

Our Fin-a-thon was a huge success. Our fin-a-thoners ranged from 4 years old to 60. We had one swimmer who did the back stroke for nearly 3 hours covering nearly 2 miles in the water. Two other divers spent the full three hours on scuba on the bottom of the pool (basically watching the swimmers go by). Our mascot “Bruce” who greets everyone in our shop was the driving force behind the whole event :)

Fin-A-Thon March 17, 2012

Shark finning is destroying populations of the oceans apex predator. By destroying the chain of life in the oceans, the oceans themselves are dying. We are responsible for protecting not just the 30% of the world's surface we can see but also the 70% beneath the waves.

Join the swimmers, snorkelers and divers of Langley Diving as we undertake a "Fin-A-Thon" for Project Aware. Our goal is to raise $1,500 to fight for sharks and the oceans at large.
