I have had a passion for the ocean almost from birth. Whenever I've needed balance in my life, I've gone to the ocean. Scuba has just been a natural fit for me and I have a passion for diving and teaching others to dive that I just can't explain. No matter how bad a day I'm having or what kind of mood I'm in, nothing can change my mood more than blowing bubbles underwater!
I was certified in 1990, on a snowy day in late November at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Unfortunately I didn't get the opportunity to get back in the water until the summer of 1999, but once I did, there was no stopping me. I became a PADI Divemaster in 2000 and an OWSI Instructor in 2002. I am in the process of finishing up my IDC Staff Instructor rating and hope to finish up my Master Instructor by the summer of 2013. In addition to being an instructor, I am the store manager and education coordinator for MASS Diving, Inc. in Massachusetts. I have been working for MASS Diving on a part-time basis since I became a DM in 2000 and have been the full-time Store Manager since August 2010. I also work for a non-profit organization called Ocean Matters. Ocean Matters is an organization that works to increase knowledge and awareness particularly in young people about our world's aquatic environments. This month, we will be taking 12 high school-aged students to Grand Cayman where they will spend a week doing a research project on the reef, then will report their findings to the Cayman Government. This is an ongoing project and one we hope to expand to other regions.
