I'm currently living in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the ocean has always been one of my passions. I hold a B. Sc. in Civil Engineer and researching regarding the impacts of urban constructions in the environment was one of my main academic focuses. Adding to my resume, I also have a specialization in marketing and cross-cultural management from Concordia University. I have 10+ years of experience in market research and strategic consulting, promoting the growth and success of non-profit organizations and global enterprises from different sectors.

Through my professional experience, I want to use this space to become an activist of Project AWARE, and also support the organization and its members with information by sharing reports, articles, events and data that will empower projects, campaigns and above all, increase awareness.

Plastics Labeled as “Hazardous” Might Reduce Ocean Pollution

This week, National Geographic published an article based on a recent comment piece made by Chelsea Rochman at UC Davis and Mark Anthony Browne at UC Santa Barbara, suggesting that some plastics should be labeled and classified as hazardous. This action would address the increasing problem our planet suffers regarding plastic waste.

Based on the current global economic scenario, it is crucial for NGOs to be strategic and leverage its projects together with a strong business engagement. What was before seen as two separate worlds, the collaboration between NGOs and the private sector is more and more becoming crucial in order to make things really happen.
