Oceans 5 dive resort organised another Beach and Reef clean up in the Harbor of Gili Air.

The last few week a lot of garbage floated around the Gili Islands. Nobody knows exactly where it comes from but the first thought is it comes from the rivers from Lombok after a heavy rain. A lot of this garbage ended up on the beaches of the Gili Islands or sunk on places where there was no current, like the harbor of Gili Air.

Oceans 5 dive resort organised anothe dive against debris dive.  16 People joined the beach and reef clean up. The clean up was in the front of Oceans 5 dive resort, the Harbor of Gili Air. The clean up is free and divers as non divers are welcome to help.

The last couple of weeks the weather was not as normal. Big waves, heavy rains, strong winds and thunderstorms were an every day event on the Gili Islands. This didnt make is easy to organise a clean up dive. But last week the weather changed. And it become beautiful as normal.

Yesterday evening 200 baby turtles just hatched and tried to get to the ocean around Gili Air. In their way to get to the water they lost direction. All of them went in the direction of the main street where all the bars and restaurants were located.

A local found first a few turtles on the main street and brought them to Oceans 5 dive resort. Later on more followed, at the end there were almost 200 baby turtles in the water basins of Oceans 5 turtle conservation.

Oceans 5 is taking care of them till they are strong enough to dive and stay underwater.
