Turtle Releases at Oceans 5 dive resort Gili Air, Indonesia

Do you like turtles? Do you like to see them more often?

The Gili Islands, Indonesia have a lot of Turtles. There are many Green Sea Turtles and Hawksbill Turtles around.

Oceans 5 has a project to support the turtles. Oceans 5 doesnt buy them, or is buying the eggs. But if someone finds an injured turtle or see some small ones going the wrong direction, Oceans 5 is taking care of them.

Last year Oceans 5 has released over 200 turtles. And hopefully all are still alive and enjoying the beautiful underwater world.

Reef Clean up around the Gili Islands

Another amazing underwater beach clean-up at Oceans 5 Dive resort Gili Air.
Every Wednesday, the Oceans 5 team mobilizes to clean Gili air's harbor.
We include our lovely divers into the experience and give them the possibility to do something for the ocean.
Our ocean needs us!

Turle release Gili Air

A few days ago Oceans 5 dive resort released 10 Hawksbill sea turtles. These were the last ones of the big group of sea turtles were Oceans 5 were taking care of. The turtles were released in front of the dive shop in the harbor of Gili Air, Lombok, Indonesia.

Oceans 5 is taking care of injured turtles or little turtles that didnt went straight to the ocean.

Reef Cleans ups around the Gili Islands

If you have a choice to dive in a soup of plastic, the smell of petrol around you, seeing more rubbish than fish or diving in crystal clear water? The choice is easy isn't it?

Last Reef Clean Up Gili Air in 2012

Yesterday Oceans 5 dive resort organized another reef clean up. Instructor Phil, Divemaster Yvonne and Divemaster Trainee Budi took care of 7 other divers who wanted to help.

The clean up started at 16.00. At that time the preparation started with preparing the bags, the gloves and all the equipment. At 16.30 Divemaster Yvonne gave a dive briefing about how everyone should take the rubbish away, the bottom time, the max depth and buddy teams.

Beach and Reef Clean up at Gili Air

The rain season starts slowly this year. But this year we noticed that there is more and more plastic is floating around than in previous years.

Oceans 5 is cleaning now every day the beach in front of the shop in the harbor of Gili Air when it is low tide. The result is 5 bags of plastic. This can be water bottles, bags, candy papers, etc.

Beach Clean ups are Needed!

Oceans 5 dive resort organizes every week beach and reef clean ups. Specially now when the rain season starts there arrives a lot of rubbish at the beaches. If we do nothing this rubbish will sink and destroy the beautiful underwater world.

Yesterday all the staff cleaned the beach in fron of Oceans 5. The result is 6 bags and 3 bins full of rubbish.

Come and join us to take care of our environment, also little help helps!

Release of the Hawksbill Sea Turtle

It was time for their release. After being at Oceans 5 for 8 months these Hawksbill sea turtles were ready to return to their home, The Ocean.

The people who were taking care of them, Nun, Uding and Bahry, helped to get the turtles to the beach. There they were released! Some of them were shy and didnt know what to do with their freedom, other enjoyed the first minute and run into the ocean as it was not new for them.

Reef clean ups in the harbor of Gili Air

The raining season will start soon on the Gili Islands. Its now halfway November and it doesnt take long when the daily rain will be there.

The rain is good for the islands, all the trees and flowers will start growing again, but the rain brings also some negatives. In the dry season people dump all their garbage in the rivers and when the rain season starts we see the result.
