Turtle release and beach/reef clean up at Oceans 5 dive resort

Oceans 5 dive resort is taking care of their environment. They do with with their weekly beach and reef clean up in the harbor of Gili Air, Gili Islands. But also Oceans 5 has a turtle conservation programme.

Yesterday Oceans 5 did a clean up in the harbor of Gili Air with 6 people. They found a lot of rubbish, in total 6 bags. Plastic bottles, cans, chips bags, wood, stone, glass, etc are the main part of the collected rubbish.

Weekly Beach and Reef Clean Up with Oceans 5 dive resort 4th July

Yesterday 12 people joined the beach and reef clean up in the front of Oceans 5 dive resort, Gili air, Gili islands.

After sorting out all the equipment there was a briefing about the dive site, max dive time, max depth, what kind of rubbish we should take, how to take out the rubbish and be aware that some rubbish is already new living for someone...

Before the buddy teams were formed everyone has got some gloves and a bag.

Another reef clean up in the front of Oceans 5 dive resort

Oceans 5 dive resort organises every week a reef clean up in th harbor of Gili Air, Gili Islands. Its free and diver as non divers an join it.

Last week there were 16 people joining the clean up, a great amount of people. The big group was split up in smaller groups which all have their local divemaster. Afer 1 hour of cleaning the result was there, 12 bags of rubbish.

Reef clean up dive Gili Air Gili Islands great success

Oceans 5 dive resort organised another clean up dive in the harbor of Gili Air, Gili Islands.

12 persons joined the clean up dive. The location was in the front of Oceans 5 dive resort. This is the spot where the fastboats arrive and leave. The tourists that take the fast boats to Bali leave a lot of garbage behind them and a lot of it comes in the water and sinks to the bottom.

New visitor at Oceans 5 dive resort Gili Air, Lombok, Indonesia

A day ago Blue marlin trawangan brought a big hawksbill turtle to Oceans 5 dive resort.

The turtle was floating on one of the most famous dive sites of the Gili Islands: Sharkpoint. This turtle couldnt go down, and wouldnt survive if Blue Marlin Trawangan didnt picked it up out of the water.

When the turtle came to Oceans 5 dive resort it has got some medicine, new sea water and food. Its still floating around but eating and swimming.

Beach and Reef Clean up on Gili Air, Gili Islands

Fantastic show up today for the beach and reef clean up in the harbor of Gili Air.

Special thanks for the students of the Bali International School (BIS). They teached the local kids to clean the island. Also Oceans 5 like to thank Blue Marlin Gili Air. They came with a lot of people and joined the clean up.

The end result was 10 bags of rubbish, still there is more. Hopefully we see you next wednesday!

Beach clean up on Gili Air with the school kids and students of BIS

A few students of the Bali International School (BIS) visit Gili Air and organised with the local school a beach clean up in front of Oceans 5 dive resort.

A lot of kids showed up this morning, and all were getting all the rubbish of the beach. The Students of BIS were organising and showing what the kids should grap and what not. And the final result was 200 plastic bottles full with plastic and other stuff.

Oceans 5 dive resort released the last olive Ridley Sea Turtles, Gili Air, Gili Islands.

Almost 8 months have they been at Oceans 5 dive resort. When they attived they were only 5 cm tall, now a few months later they became bigger and stronger. Hopefully they will survive the new environment.

Beach and reef clean up the 2th of May Gili Islands with special diver

The Gili Islands dont have police, dogs, cars and motorbikes. Every island has his own head of the island. This person is the person when you have some problems, when you want to start building, when you want to start a business on the islands. His vote is crucial.

The head of the island of Gili and some of his staff air did last year their Padi open water course. They were interested why tourists come to the Gili islands, and how the underwater world looks like.
