Every sixth hours more then 375 million cubic litres of water passes the narrow and shallow straight of Saltstraumen. This creates the worlds famous Maelstrom and it’s whirlpools. The nutrition rich water feeds a uniquely rich fauna and marine life. Here you have the chance to encounter large shoals of cods and coalfish that darken the surface above you. Come face to face with the amazing wolf fish and find numerous kinds of nudi branches among all the colourful anemones and kelp forest.
