- My Summary
I have been diving since January 2009. I have a PADI Advanced Open Water certification, Nitrox cert, and Wreck cert. My husband, Scott is also a scuba diver (and we're also both skydiving instructors!). We live in Fredericksburg, VA which means that we have to travel for good diving, but that's not too much of a problem since North Carolina is only a 5-hour drive away. We often dive off of Morehead City, NC (with Olympus Divers of course...we love them!) and really enjoy all of the great wrecks off the NC coast. We also have family in different parts of Florida, so we have many dives off of Key West and Ft. Lauderdale. My favorite thing about diving is watching marine animals, especially the sand tiger sharks off of NC. Before I started diving, I always assumed that I would be scared of running into sharks once I was a diver. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have never felt any fear nor have I felt threatened around any of the sharks I have been in the water with. They are incredibly beautiful creatures and it is such a priviledge to watch them effortlessly and gracefully slice through the water. I have joined a few shark conservation groups, and hope to be able to educate people about sharks to eradicate the misconceptions that so many people have about them.
