I'm the Vice President of Marketing Metrics & Performance at PADI Worldwide.

I've been involved with Project AWARE from its early days when a group of environmental advocates at PADI created the Project AWARE philosophy as part of our company’s corporate culture.

As a past member of the Board of Project AWARE Foundation I'm excited to be part of this growing movement of divers taking action to protect our ocean planet.

Wandering Albatross - What does the future hold?

As several readers would know, my interests in conservation are at times complex. Field trips with Neville Coleman, feral animal management, bird watching, my diving and work with Project AWARE have all contributed to a deep appreciation of our wildlife around the world. It was therefore very disheartening to hear that the Wandering Albatross (Diomedea exulans) of that ancient legend is in very serious decline. In fact, 19 of the 21 species of albatross are now officially listed as endangered.

Koh Tao Boat Displays the AWARE love

I've just returned from a great diving adventure around Thailand visiting and diving both the East and West coast.

I was really impressed by the level of support for Project AWARE but what took me back was when I saw the new AWARE logo proudly displayed on a boat docked in the harbour at Koh Tao.

This is a fantastic way to show pride and passion for protecting our ocean planet - one dive at a time. Display the Project AWARE logo on your boat, in your shop, on the street and show others that divers are are defending our ocean.

The Countdown to March 2013 – What will this mean for sharks?

In less than one year’s time, Government officials from all around the world will meet in Thailand to discuss the international trade in wildlife. These representatives from 175 countries meet every few years to discuss all sorts of species threatened with extinction, from elephants to ladybirds, a whole range of flora and fauna. Trade in wildlife products is estimated to be worth billions of dollars each year. These meetings aim is to ensure that international trade does not threaten species' survival.

Protect the Coral Sea

The Coral Sea is unique and unprotected. Can you take a few moments to help protect it?

The Australian Government has released a draft plan for a new Coral Sea Marine Park. The plan is a good start, but leaves most of the coral reefs and important shark habitats unprotected.
