When I was a kid growing up in Alaska, I wanted to be a boat captain and oceanographer. But I’m much happier at Project AWARE Foundation where I’ve been campaigning for ocean protection for the last 12 years.

The urge to become a diver has been with me since I can remember. But even during my Divemaster course, I must admit, I wondered what all the fuss was about. Clearly, it was time to start diving for fun!

Pairing my annual dive adventures with my formal background in fisheries and biology has paved the way for a really exciting career here at AWARE. I think everyone has a natural connection to the ocean. My favorite part of my job is finding new ways to unlock this personal connection and shine a light on divers around the world so dedicated to taking action.
