Nothing is better than an early morning fishing trip, watching the first rays of light stretch out over the South Pacific, with the anticipation of bringing back lunch!

On arrival back at Tokoriki, guests can present their catch to the kitchen, where Chef Rainal and his team will expertly fillet the fish and present it in a stunning creation for lunch or dinner. 

Eating fresh fish is one of life’s pleasures and the battle to catch it often a long lasting memory and holiday highlight.

Through out the month of April 2012, guests at Tokoriki Island Resort are assisting "science" by taking part in a Fiji wide survey of sharks, turtles and rays.

If guests see any of these species on a fishing trip, snorkel or scuba dive they are asked to identify exactly what they saw and details recorded in a log book. 

The aim of the survey is to try to create a real picture of which sharks live where and to get an idea of shark numbers in Fiji.

We have continued to plant coral on our 'Giant Clam Project Site'. Interestingly the coral plugs we have planted on the rack have all taken. 

On our other coral planting site 'Tokoriki Wall' we have around a 50% success rate.  Although it is still very early days, we haven't as yet lost a single coral plug through stress and bleaching on our Giant Clam site.

The technique we use is the same, the depth we plant the coral the same...but there is one difference, our Giant Clam site gets far more current. 

Experienced divers Li and Pierre from the USA, assisted us with a spot of coral planting on our Giant Clam site last week.  Fourty coral plugs were prepared and now sit on our coral planting rack.   A week on, all the coral cuttings are still alive, and we hope it'll simply be a matter of waiting 8 -12 weeks before we can transplant these on to the reef.
