Dive against Debris

Dive Tropex Tokoriki has embraced the "Dive Against Debris" philosophy. On all dives, should a piece of rubbish be spotted, it is collected. In beautiful Fiji, most dive sites are rubbish free; however those dive sites located near local villages are prone to litter. Plastic bottles, clothing and batteries are common items picked up on these dive sites.

Big Shark Shout Out

Tokoriki Dive Centre supports wholeheartedly Project AWARE's efforts to help rally support and raise the profile, of shark species to Governments around the world.

Monuriki 'Cast Away' Island Conservation Innitiative

There are three elements we take very seriously on all Tokoriki tours: safety, fun and the environment. A while back landowners of this spectacular island, decided to make it officially a land and marine reserve. We relished the news as the diving and snorkelling around the island is some of our best and the island is home to some very unique flora and fauna.

Whale Song announces the arrival of Humpback Whales!

Cetacean Watch

It's that time of year again. The annual movement of Humpback Whales has begun! A couple of days ago divers were treated to hearing the sound of whale song on a dive to Tokoriki Wall, and then later that day, what we assume were the same Humpbacks were spotted on a fishing trip.

Earth Day Beach Clean Up

Tokoriki's Earth Day Clean up, which due to various circumstances was delayed until the end of May, was a beach clean of Monuriki Island, with Yanuya Island school kids to assist. Lots of fun was had by all and less rubbish than usual was collected which was great to see.

Earth Day Coral Planting

On Earth Day Tokoriki diving guests assisted our dive crew in transplanting around 100 coral plugs on to Tokoriki's fringing reef.

Diving guests can get involved with coral planting at Tokoriki by request, or by signing up to do a PADI Advanced Diver Course and choosing 'Coral Planting' as one of their elective dives.

Return guest John Hewison from Melbourne, really enjoyed the experience saying that "it was extremely rewarding and great fun to take part in such an event".

Tokoriki Island Giant Clam Regeneration Site gets Marine Park thumbs up!

On a small platform reef, around 600m offshore from Tokoriki Island Resort, is our Giant Clam Project site. Set up by Will and Alex (that's us) in 2000, in conjunction with the Ministry of Fisheries, the project set out to reestablish the extinct tridacna gigas clams back into the area. With no marine science training, but with a passion for the environment, we planted over 800 baby clams at various stages throughout the decade.
