Bodø Sports Diving Club (Bodø Sportsdykkerklubb) have since 2005 picked up 5tonns (5000 Kilograms) of polluting fishing lures, (containing almost 100% poisonous lead), from the seabed of Saltstraumen. Saltstraumen is a small strait with the strongest tidal current in the world. It is located in the municipality of Bodø in Nordland county, Norway, located just north of the Polarcircle. Saltstraumen is a popular area for recreational fishing and -scubadiving.
We have recently started diving a new area of a site - which is covered in fishing nets we are organising a dive to clean this site up as it is full of life which is ultimately getting stuck in these nets.
The dive is a wall dive so we can organise groups along the wall and will have support boats for the nets. A lovely dive, come help us make it even better and allow more life to survive there.
Come join Adventures in Scuba clean up one of our local lakes and dive sites! While we are a landlocked city, we can still do our part in combatting marine debris and ensuring healthy marine habitats so we can still enjoy our local dive sites. There will be prizes, Food, draws and even prizes for Best Find!
Come and be shore support or help clean-up the beach if your unable to dive. Every little bit helps, so get off the side lines and pitch in.
