Join Isla Marisol Resort Belize in partnership with Trees to Seas, Inc. at idyllic Glover's Reef Marine Reserve for a hands-on workshop in lionfish removal.
Coordinated by University of Hawaii Dive Training Coordinator Liv Wheeler, Marine Ecologist Phillip Dustan, and Isla Marisol Resort Belizerepresentative Zoe Dagan, this trip is sure to be a "bucketlist" adventure complete with gut-busting fits of laughter, fabulous caribbean food, smiles, sunsets, lionfish slaying, and science.
This adventure is ideal for anyone curious to try their hand at spearfishing in an ecologically responsible way. Lionfish are invasive in Belize and lack any natural predators. Unchecked, lionfish populations have exploded and are having significant negative impacts on coral reefs. Lionfish removal helps control the invasion. With us you will learn how to safely collect and handle lionfish!
Snorkeling opportunities for non-divers, SCUBA certification required to dive. Please contact us if you are interested in completing your SCUBA certification during the trip.
