This months clean-up will start in the Stuart Cove's canal and out towards the entrance and shore line. Much debris has been spotted, mostly food packaging and plastic. Please help us to stop this debris being washed out to the ocean. We also have many marine inhabitants in our canal and stingrays are often seen gliding around. Lets give them a cleaner , safer home to live in. Clean-up will begin at 2pm so most boats will have left the dock.
Since 1984 Sunken Treasure Scuba Center has been involved with local waterway debris cleanups along with our partners, PADI Project AWARE (Aquatic World Awareness Responsibility, and Education) and Clinton County Cleanscapes. New this year we'll also be working with The Georgia Sea Turtle Center Marine Debris Initiative to head off debis before it gets to the ocean. Since 2000 when we started keeping records we have removed over 10,000 tires and tons of other trash from our local waterways.
