Sail Rock Divers, in conjunction with Chaloklum Divers, Haad Yao Divers and others will be conducting a day of reef cleaning on 2 of the dive sites of Koh Phangan in the Gulf of Thailand in support of the PADI Project Aware Dive Agaianst Debris month.
We will be organizing a 'Dive Against Debris'' on several dive sites on Mnemba Atoll, including Kichwani and Aquarium, some of the most dived places on the south side of the Atoll. The atoll is the home of numerous resident dolphins and green turtles. We plan on doing this on a regular basis, at least once a month, allowing us to survey the area on a long term period. All divers and snorkellers are welcome to help. We will do a short presentation about Dive Against Debris methods of action, data collecting ways to get involved elsewhere.
This is a shore dive cleanup at Fort Desoto Gulf Pier to support Tampa Bay Watch and National Estuaries Day.
Volunteers needed for these events include:
Divers - All divers must be Open Water certified with at least 15 open water dives in their logbook. On the day of the dive cleanup, dive volunteers must submit their signed liability form (will be sent separately with Dive Plan). Diver/surface marker buoys are required for this dive event.
Kayaks/canoes – Volunteers with kayaks or paddleboards will support the divers in the water.
