My stay in Kenya with Buccaneer Diving is now coming to an end ... )-: but before I go I promised my Project AWARE friends I would collect petition signatures for the Give Sharks a Fighting Chance petition.
After spending some quality time with my new Schools to the Sea friends, Bruce, Mark and Sander from Buccaneer Diving in Kenya took me on a glass boat trip. I wasn't too keen on this type of trip but when they explained what it was I got all excited about it!
Finn was a great help in the Dive Centre on Thursday, managing to fill cylinders, load the dive van and even serve customers! He was a hit with our regular divers and customers, especially the ladies. He even managed to persuade a few of our customers to purchase our charity T-shirts for our Fin4Finning event on Saturday. He loved the cool design that Fourth Element had come up with.
Finn was still exhausted from his attempt to get to Kenya so slept most of the day. Finn was suffering from nightmares, which he said were a mix of plastic oceans and sharks with no fins! In fact, he awoke with a start and hid amongst the foliage to hide from the shark fishermen…
Finley the shark, star of Shark on Tour, was unceremoniously squeezed into my dive bag for the 40+ journey across the world from Australia to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic for the PADI Course Director Training course. She arrived unscathed, and joined me and the PADI staff for a dive on the wreck of the "Patricia" just off the fringe reefs of Punta Cana. She then joined the group of candidates from the CDTC, and was formally introduced during Suzanne Pleydell's Project AWARE presentation.
