Bali Crystal Diver's a hosting a special Dinner for Divers event where we will be celebrating collecting over 1000 signatures for Project Aware's Give Sharks a Fighting Chance petition! We wil be offering a 50% discount on Dinner for all Divers who arrive with their Certification Card between 6pm and 8pm and will be raising funds for Project Aware Shark Conservation on the night!
I love visiting Malaysia! Firstly everyone is so friendly. Secondly everyone is so generous.
During the recent Malaysia International Dive Expo, divers grabbed their pens and signed our Shark Petition - we collected over 700 signatures at the show. They also put their hands in their BCD's and together raised $1,000 for Project AWARE.
What was more encouraging was the passion of the Malaysian dive community to take action, support the new AWARE and be active.
Come and visit the PADI Booth at the Malaysia International Dive Expo. Project AWARE will be on hand to answer your questions, give you advice and support on your ocean protection projects and hand out shark tattoos, petitions, Dive Against Debris tools and much more.
Back in March I met with the Australian CITES Representatives to talk about AWARE's Sharks in Peril campaign. I spoke about our petition - back in March 50,000 people had signed demanding sharks get the protection they deserve.
One thing was very clear from this meeting - Divers can play a critical role in lobbying for increased protection. We have voting power - and we can choose to use this power and lobby for change.
Marie Chau, PADI Assistant Instructor at Atlantis International, Bali has been busy over the past few months supporting Project AWARE's Give Sharks A Fighting Chance petition. She has managed to collect over four hundred signatures from divers, customers and locals who enter the shop in Sanur, Bali.
As well as showing support for shark conservation Atlantis also organise monthly Project AWARE cleanup activities for all their staff.
I love to be proactive. I sit at work all day thinking about ways I can spread the word that sharks need our protection. So, I gathered up a team of shark lovers from the PADI office in Bristol as well as some friends from the area and I challenged us all to take the streets of the city centre to let the people of Bristol know that we all need to protect our ocean planet!
