Help us clean up the fishing line and lures from the Mullet Hole off of State Park Rd in Crystal River, FL. If the manatees ingest this line while foraging for various grasses, it can hurt or even kill them. It's manatee season and they'll be seeking shelter back in the warmer waters near the springs!
We are due another one of our quarterly clean up dives. It is an opportune time to hold one along the seafront now that the boats wrecked there during the cyclone have (finally) been removed. We cleaned up our area of the seawall after the cyclone but there may be some little bits of debris that we couldn’t get to because of the boats. MORE
Thirteen students from SAS Scuba Club and three adult chaparones paddleboarded the intercoastal surrounding Deerfield Island Park collecting trash submerged in the Hammock roots. We swam and dove to remove the trash and placed it in dive bags then sorted and recorded the trash we found. We found 162 pieces totaling 77 pounds of trash. We then recycled what we could and disposed of the rest.
