Volunteers will scour the sand, dunes, and sea floor for debris harmful to marine life. In conjunction with Memorial Hospital staff and Divers Direct, Fathom Five Scuba divers and volunteer divers from South Florida Beach Divers will celebrate Earth Day 2014 by preserving a pristine habitat. Sea turtles beginning to come ashore to deposit their eggs are especially vulnerable to trash that floats ashore or is left by beachgoers.
We are conducting a shore entry dive on Saturday morning on Vetch's reef, this dive is for free and Calypso Dive & Adventure have kindly sponsored free gear and tank fills as well. We will be meeting at 8am at Calypso. At 11am we will be cleaning up the beach in front of the reef. Bags and gloves provided. On Sunday you can book any boat dive through Calypso, take a bag and clean the reef or wreck, the person who picks up the most trash will get their dive reimbursed. MORE

E' un percorso che inizia con un seminario introduttivo di eco/biologia marina e prosegue con 6 immersioni nello stesso sito (Lo Scoglietto - Isola d'Elba) durante le quali vedremo le differenti forme di vita marina dalla tarda primavera fino all'inizio dell'autunno e osserveremo come la presenza dell'uomo, molto forte nel periodo estivo, contribuisca al deterioramento dell'ecosistema marino.

We would like to invite you to our 2014 edition of our annual underwater and beach clean-up on May 17th, 2014! This year, we are moving a little further north to Rye/Playland, which is in our backyard, as we are Westchester County's premiere scuba club.
Our mission is to draw on the spirit of the local diving community to continue our efforts against trash and marine debris, and educate the public on what we can do by joining forces to keep our backyard clean for generations to come.
