Very nice diving today with my friend Anton aka "The Punisher". Taught him all about dive against debri and we both really loved it. Did about an hour dive and took out a good 13 kg of trash. Well done Anton, and next time bring some more friends!
A bit of info on the picture of the torpedo warhead found by myself and Dave Mallard in Nov 2014. It contained 280kg of explosive and was situated at 4.6m deep. It has now been removed from the water by the Maltese Bomb Squad and been cleaned up and made safe. It is now proudly on display at their headquarters in Mosta. Looking forward to tomorrow when we return to look for some missing components of this warhead and also complete a Dive Against Debris dive in the area at the same time! More pics to follow!!
This was the first time Rocket Friends Diving organising the Dive Against Debris program. Our objective is to promote the ocean clean-up. For those unable to join the activities due to limited vacancy, please accept out apology. The activities were carried out in two days.
On the first day, 10-OCT-2015, team A went to Bayside Bay and Whisky Bay. Bad weather and low visibility made us unable to clean up the fishing nets in water deeper than 8 meters. However, we still collected 41.8kg debris including bottles, tin cans and a scuba tank with 1st stage.
