Join the Debutante Divers for this informational session on lionfish biology and methods for safe handling. Funded by a grant through the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Keri Kenning and Lad Akins will be traveling to twenty cities throughout the South East United States to teach lionfish collecting and handling workshops.
Join us as we deploy bags of oyster shells at an erosion site on Daniel Island. These will help collect sediment to build the marsh flats and also to recruit new oyster growth which helps stabalize the coastline, filter water, and replenish harvested oysters! We'll move 10,000lbs of shell, deply 150 bags of oysters, which will filter 62,000 gallons of water AN HOUR once they recruit mature oysters!
