For 2016 Earth Day, we are cleaning up under the Pier at the Tugboat Dive Site. An area very popular with the local fisherman, which unfortunately has led to a great build-up of old fishing line, fish cans and beer bottles amongst other unwanted debris. Dry volunteers always welcome to help clean up the beach / land in the area :)

Alamo IDC will be participating in a Diving Against Debris at the Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas Texas on Saturday, April 23rd. We hope to clean up the area below the fishing pier where many fishing related items may have accidently fallen into the water below. We will be video taping the process so that we can submit it to one of the news stations in San Antonio Texas. The news station wants to feature the event on their News 4 Nature segment to show how the impact of man on the watersheds leads to pollution in our oceans.
On April 22nd Dive Against Debris in Isla Catalina.
All operators are welcome to invite their divers on that day to collect debris from "The Wall" & "Aquarium" dive sites. A support boat will be collecting all debris from divers as they surface. Once second dive is finished we will meet at the beach to count and weight the debris collected. A group photo will be done afterwards.
We will do an in- and under-water cleanup with snorkelers and scuba divers, concentrating on monofilament underneath the pier. We will start with a one-tank dive at 8:30am. If we find anything large, such as ghostnets, that requires removal with liftbags, we will add a second tank with a small dedicated crew.
