Make A Difference

Water Watch Week

Our World, Our Water, Our Week to Make a Difference

Under the banner of AWARE kid’s, Water Watch Week has been specially designed in co-operation with EBP (Education Business Partnership) to develop curriculum-based materials for children and teachers to enhance early years environmental education. Designed to compliment the UK National Curriculum, it is generic and flexible enough to be adapted to any school / youth environment. With the success of a Water Watch Week piloted in Kent, England, in July 2003, Project AWARE Foundation (International) is now promoting this initiative internationally to give you an opportunity to liaise with your local school.

Water Watch Week is a week of activities for children aimed at raising their environmental awareness and educating them on the issues of marine debris. During this week, amongst other activities, the children take part in a cleanup activity. A Water Watch Week Teachers Resource CD Rom, including worksheets, cleanup guidelines and data cards specially designed for children, has been developed to assist Water Watch Week co-ordinators in the planning of this special environmental week.

Also available is the AWARE Kids activities book which covers many underwater environmental issues. Each book comes with a sticker and membership card; you can receive up to thirty copies of these free.  To register your Water Watch Week event or presentation and receive your free Kids materials and CD Rom, please complete the form below. Kids, teachers, parents and caterers will find out why choosing sustainable seafood is vital for the future of fish and fishing. Kids will get to know the food chain from boat to plate and will learn about responsible consumption with the help of Murdock the Fisherman’s Cat. Murdock is hosting a fun-packed website and education pack for teachers. Please visit www.fishandkids.org
