Thank you for playing such a big part in our campaign to protect sharks and for making politicians take notice in the run up to CITES”Alex Earl, Project AWARE Foundation's Executive Director
With your help, the voice for shark protection has grown - 100,000 strong!
April's Big Shark Shout Out 2012 has ended with a very loud and clear message to global policy makers that 100,972 SCUBA divers and shark advocates are demanding effective and enforceable shark protection measures.
Project AWARE is going to great lengths to ensure our collective voice helps secure trade protection for the most vulnerable shark species at the next Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) in March 2013!
"Project AWARE works globally to be the environmental voice of the global dive community where it counts, when it counts and at the highest levels possible" said Alex Earl, Project AWARE Executive Director.
"A milestone of 100,000 signatures is inspiring but there is little rest on planetary duty. During the coming months we’ll take your voice to leaders and decision makers as we target the global power of CITES to protect threatened sharks."
Your voice and the success of this petition allow Project AWARE’s global teams to make profound arguments for change – including diving-based economic benefits of living sharks and eco-tourism.
A big THANK YOU goes to all our supporters and petition signatories for playing such a big part in our campaign to protect sharks and for making politicians take notice in the run up to CITES, one of the largest, most effective wildlife conservation agreements in existence.
