Environmental Divers - Clean Up Crew are a group of divers based on the Gold Coast, Australia. It is fair to say we are all lovers of the Ocean and haters of Litter.
We try very hard to make every dive count and bring the problem that is marine debris to the surface where we can use it to educate people of all ages on the growing issue that is sadly very apparent in many beautiful waterways and dive sites around the globe.
While clean up diving may not be the most glamourous way to spend your time beneath the seas, it is very rewarding when you see areas regenerating soft and hard coral growth and sustaining life where there was once a pile of rubbish.
As Divers we have a front row seat to view the damage and advocate for change and policies to protect the marine environment in the years to come.
While we often come across things that are confronting beneath the waves, we try to make every one of our dives as fun as they possibly can be and have a lovely core group of divers that happily welcome anyone to the fold and teach other divers effective and safe ways to remove marine debris from our chosen adopt a dive sites.
On January 1st 2018 Environmental Divers will begin the longest sustained marine debris survey EVER conducted on a single body of water. We will begin the 365 Diveable Day of Debris in the Gold Coast Seaway and Broadwater, the second largest waterways system in the world, which will provide valuable data for local, state and federal governments to create future plans to combat marine debris and ways to prevent rubbish from entering the waterways system in the first place. We could really do with your help to achieve this goal, you will find a link to our Go Fund Me page for the 365 Diveable Days of Debris below.
