Sea Hounds Honored as the Best in Environmental Excellence

Community Spotlights

Veteran Project AWARE supporter and ambassador, Sea Hounds Singapore has clinched the Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards 2012 for its green practices and environmental leadership.

The Singapore-based non-governmental organization, Singapore Environment Council announced the winners of six categories of its annual award. Winners included big name companies like the maker of Singapore’s Tiger beer brand, IBM, Malaysian conglomerate YTL Corporation and environmental chemical firm Hydroemission.

Sea Hounds, a local PADI 5 star National Geographic dive centre won the Nissan Leaf Singapore Environmental Achievement Award for Services. Marine conservation and environmental responsiblity have always been central to the Sea Hounds business philosophy. The small team work incredibly hard to ensure this eco concept trickles down from employees to customers and their business partners.

Talking about the award, Stephen Beng, PADI Course Director and Sea Hounds owner said, “Small business owners shouldn’t harp on size as a barrier to environmental performance. Being responsible boils down to a company’s objectives and procedures, and how it communicates them.”

Beng was formally presented with the award during a special ceremony with the Singapore Minister of Environment and Water Resources, Dr. Vivian Balakrishan last Thursday 23rd August.

Added Beng, "As our global consumption increases, conservation is urgent. Our hope is for all to take ownership of local resources and nature, to appreciate the foreword planning of our government, and to start being responsible for daily choices and actions. To our crew and partners, keep up the good work! "

Project AWARE Foundation Director and Vice President of PADI Asia Pacific, Henrik Nimb was present at the ceremony. "Sea Hounds has dedicated 12 years to environmental conservation in Singapore. It's great to see one of our top leaders recognised for their efforts to secure a healthy future for generations to come. We're proud to work alongside you," said Nimb.
